Surrounded by the forest of maledivian cedar trees, on the slopes of Parnonas built at an altitude of 1,100 meters, the imposing monastery of Panagia (Virgin Mary) Malevis emerges. The name Malevi comes from the local name of the peak of Parnonas, Malevos and according to the tradition, the first monastery was founded in the 8th century elsewhere.

We will continue our trip visiting the village of Agios Petros, which is built at 950 meters with paths leading to the hiking shelter and peaks of Parnonas mountain. Our excursion continues visiting the village of Karyes, a traditional village, built at the foot of Parnonas and surrounded by a forest of chestnut and walnut trees.

It is located on the northeastern side of the prefecture of Laconia, at the border with the prefecture of Arcadia, and at an altitude of 950 meters with a picturesque square with a perennial plane tree.
